monitor going into standby modeish

i dont know if its my video card or monitor... sometimes it just suddenly switches to standby mode or whatever where its a black screen and the green light blinks... i restart the computer and its still does that... i dont know what i do but it eventually works again... i have syncmaster 750s.

im overclocking... i feel that the performance of my card is sluggish... maybe i dont have the right settings for my vid card in the bios?

Check "Power Options" in the control panel.
What is "turn off monitor" set to?

This has been a problem with me in the past, try shaking the monitor or baning your fist on the desk (it really really works). If that does not work, try getting better airflow to your monitor (read this).
