FX-51 and 4x512???

Hey all, got a FX-51 and was wondering if these procs had issues with 4x512 memory configurations??? Gonna pair it eith a new Foxconn motherboard with the Nforce Pro chipset....

Help???


Or should i just go with a 2 gig Corsair kit?? (Higher timeings though)

I have OCZ4001024ELERDC-K currently....

AFAIK the Sledgehammer doesn't have memory controller issues. But then again I haven't gone over the FX-51 for quite some time.

2x1024 is the better option. You have possible upgrade option down the road and you won't have to automatically run 2T.

not true, check out the new dfi rdx200 http://anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2572

can do 1t memory timings with 4 sticks of 512 ram. and shows a real world increase in performance vs 2t

In my opinion, low timings are significantly more important than 2T.

wouldnt this be more reason to use 4 512 sticks, rather than 1gb sticks that tend to have higher timings

His ram will be useless if he uprades because it will be registered. Just go for 4 sticks of 512MB registered ram.

Sorry I didn't make it clear; I was hinting that he should get 4x 512MB sticks instead of 2x 1024MB lol.
