Looking to upgrade finally

My old sticks of BH-5 kingston PC3200 1GB memory went kaput. The system fails to post with those sticks in.

So... time to go bigger and better I hope. I know that might be hard but oh well. Here are my likely candidates for a purchase.

I would like to hit 250 FSB with something. As I was running my old BH-5s at 250 2-2-2-7@3.1v no problem for a long time. I'm not sure how they died since I took my PC apart and hadn't actually put it back together for like 5 months. They've been lying around in an anti-static bag and when I went to use them again.. dead. R.I.P.

If there are any other 2GB kits out there you guys know of that can post some good numbers. 250+FSB with decently tight timings and 1T. Let me know.

G-Skill HZ's that you listed first are Samsung UCCC's DDR500 (250MHz stock) and have been known to OC 270-280MHz on avg!

Rest of the stuff that you listed are Infenion chips and with them you never know. You can either get some good stuff that can do high freq with solid timings or you can get a dud. So if you like taking gambles go for Patriot stuff as they run on latest CE6 chips, but not 100% sure what OCZ is using on theirs. Most likely BE5 or CE5.

Just doing some research seems to have narrowed some of this down a bit.

The GSkill HZ stuff. Can OC well. Samsung UCCC as been stated.

The OCZ new EB stuff. Tighter spd timings a PC4000 with 3-3-2-8 instead of 3-4-4-8 like everyone else. This stuff seems to OC like a mofo too but is a bit higher in price.

Last but not least is the G.Skill ZX stuff. The techs on XMS are reporting awsome numbers from this stuff as well. It's also the cheapest out of the bunch.

The highest chance of a high OC with tight timings is going to be from the OCZ. I could go with the crucial ballistix at the same price as the OCZ since those have the micron chips that are doing well on XMS. Then again, the OCZs are supposed to be newer and better then the ballistix so I am going to have to rule the ballistix out for the same price.

Hrmm.. Gskill HZ, ZX, or OCZ EB.... can't decide.

I would hold of on OCZ EB's as we have had some users on these forums that didn't get so great results with them.

Balistix are the best in 2GB game!

If you ask me I'd rather go with Samsung UCCC's then any Infenion chips.

Just my .02
