Did the new ATI drivers help?

Did the new ATI drivers help?

I heard some new drivers 8500 were released, but I didn't really see where they what they did or anything, did they include that smoothvision thing? Did they help out the poor OEM owners (which I would have been if I didn't stall around...) Or did the drivers just do basically nothing like it seems half the nvidia driver releases do? I still haven't placed an order for my card, going to wait til I can't take the crashes every half hour anymore, probably 2-3 days
