New card out. Nice deal for PCIE in my book and a great value @ $199. The review on Anandtech looks to be a good one...

Uhm, wtf? This has 425core, 1000mem... so if this were like the 6800GT at all, then it's a lot more powerful... that's 75mhz more on the core. This thing is like a 6800Ultra then.

OMG I WONDER HOW THESE DO IN SLI!

the only perform as good as a single 7800GTX in SLI form... read the new GS article at anandtech, they peform the same as a regular 6800GT, but for alot less in price

nice find. Only 10$ more at newegg though. It performs a lot better than the X800GTO and is only 40$ more. $210 vs $170 (at newegg).

What are the chances the 4 pipes can be unlocked to make it a ultra?

My guess is that it won't work, but hey I'd look into it!

You know what, guys? This 6800GS (425/1000) is like my 6800LE (12 pipes @ 425/950), only a tad bit stronger on the memory. My 6800LE hit 12,300 3dmark03, so if you think about it this GS has a lot more headroom. Those were clocks that took me a long time to hit, and this GS comes stock more powerful than my LE.

I'm beginning to come to the conclusion that the 4 extra pipes is equal to about 75mhz gpu speed.

This is why you see some people with X800Pros matching 3dmark03 and 05 scores of X850XTs.

Look at the X1800XT competing with the 7800GTX. The powerful GPU on the X1800XT at 16 pipes can take on a GTX at 24 pipes.

I'm becoming more a fan of higher GPU than more pipes. It's beginning to show a lot with the more I see, the more I read, and the more I OC my "lower-end" cards.

Its rumored to be just a holiday "flick" to detract from ATI's holiday sales. I don't think these cards are very profitable for NVIDIA.

After I saw the price at Monarch, I read a number of reviews. From the reviews, it seems that the GS overclocks considerably well. Hot Hardware's review GS hit 540/1230, and Guru3D hit 480/1110. With moderate overclocking, a GS is more powerful than a GT. All that for $100 less than a GT, a very good deal. Now if there is a way to unlock the extra pipes... well, one can only hope.
I am seriously looking at getting one of these, even though I know I will be buying a 7800 GTX512 in the near future...
