hi, i'm using the server in my signature, i have scsi HDs with a DELL PERC controller.

files seem to dissapear, if someone is in a file then there is a blip the file will be lost..

i was once told that you can set the hard drives in two different modes-
-straight through
-pre-buffer

the straight though saves info onto the hard drive straight away where as the pre buffer has it in a temp cache?

i don't know if this is true but does anyone have any info on SCSI drives and best practices as im sick of getting stuff off back up!!

cheers

check to see what hdd settings you have by changing the pin position on the back of the hdd. There should be a diagram or info about what each pair of pins do.
