Sempron3000 or AthlonXP2800?

I currently have a Sempron 3000 installed in an Asus a7v8x board. It seems while gaming my cpu isnt working to hot. I have a BFG 6600gt/oc gpu installed. I just found a Athlon XP 2800, and was wondering if it would possibly help out on gaming. My board can only take up to a 3000xp.

Opinions welcomed
Kyle
