For christmas I got the ok from the rents to build a new computer. Let me know i might start ordering monday.

Mobo: ASRock 939Dual-Sata2
CPU: Opteron 146
Case: AeroCool Spiral...
CPU HS: ThermalRight SI-120
PSU:???? i was told the antec neo was not a good choice so i have to do some research. i want a moduar that isnt too much $$$$

This all will go with 1Gb of corsair value, a NEC dvd burner, 80Gb WD sata, 120Gb WD ide, and my 9800pro.

I would get lower end opto that's oem as well.
keep the saved cash in tucked away for an awesome video card when you upgrade.

Looks fine.

The only thing you could change is probably find a cheaper case, or upgrade to a more popular case, like the Antec P160 or P180. Also saving money by getting the 144 is good too, but it doesn't quite matter, the few bucks spent on the 146 should hopefully be gained back by the summer you get a new video card.
