trying to make a bootable W2k disc

okay so I have tried but keep failing to make a bootable disc so I can install W2k on a machine, my floppy is crap so that leaves me with a CD only.

I am presently attempting this method http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=297 on a CD-RW as I have wasted to many R's, 2x RW sucks but im about out of R's anyway I am using the boot image with all the regular w2k files on a cd

I have all the files from the Windows 2k pro on my computer, if the above mentioned method does not work for me (30 minutes till I find out) how else should I go about doing this?

I am kinda lost as I scratched the top side of my bootable w2k disc and it came that way...

Did you follow the Expert Settings for boot all the way?

If you own a valid license, download a Windows 2000 ISO from the web. It is not illegal to use another copy of a Win 2K CD but it is illegal to use someone else's CD key.

The Win 2K install CD is bootable. You shouldn't have to do anything.

Yes the disc is bootable but it's not bootable when you steal just the files from it and try to make a disc out of it. That's where his problem is

And it's not illegal to download it if you own a licence. The licence is the product.

Wow, how many times have we heard this argument?

It is a violation of Microsoft's End User Liscense Agreement to download Windows anywhere, at any time, excepting from Microsoft themselves. And since Microsoft doesn't offer downloads, anywhere that you can download this software would be a warez site.

Let's end the talk of any downloading of proprietary software. It is illegal and against the rules of this forum. If you are a licensed user of windows 2000, the CD you received is bootable. If not, either go out and buy a copy of windows or start using a free os like linux. The forum does not tolerate discussion of warez or software piracy.

I think a bunch of people missed this line. You have a few choices.

1. Call Microsoft and see how much they will charge for a new disk to replace the scratched one.

2. Find a friend with a 2000 disk

3. Buy a brand new copy
