Well I have the iTunes/Quicktime installer so that I can install the cursed Quicktime for streaming online vids. I was quite frustrated when I realized that it came in a combo. Every time I have installed it, I go right to Add/Remove programs and uninstall iTunes. Not a big fan of iXXXX.

I was wondering if there is a quicktime installer without iTunes. Been on my mind for awhile but never really looked into it. Now that I'm creating a DVD with a bunch on installers for quick computer setups, I thought I'd ask.

don't ever install quicktime ever ever ever, and that goes for realplayer and acrobat reader too. They are not needed, instead try:

Quicktime Alternative (a quicktime codec that lets you see online vids, and plays downloaded files in media player)
http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm or
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

Real Alternative (same but for real player)
http://home.hccnet.nl/h.edskes/finalbuilds.htm or
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

Foxit Reader (tiny 1MB *.pdf reader with full browser integration)
http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

Use all of these, and have no more bundled unwanted spam programs like iTunes, IdiotBuddy, Photoshop trials etc.

WOW....

you are amazing...

I always hated having to install those programs and never realized there was an alternative. You are seriously The Man. I always got by without RealPlayer, it was just all those darn quicktime files, and now also PDF's, another pet peeve of mine. This great.

no worries, i discovered them all when desparately searching the web in the hope that something existed to open quicktime streams that wasn't made by apple.

Wonderful, I've been wondering about an alternative PDF reader that isn't bloated for a week or so and it seems you beat me to the punch. Awesome, thanks :).

As for quicktime, if you're really bent on installing quicktime without iTunes you could probably find a past release of the program somewhere (just in case you were wondering), but personally real and quicktime alternative along with MPC or something simliar is the much better option and its what most of us use.
