Encoding a movie on DVD Shrink takes ages, anyone know how to speed it up, or even why it goes so slow? It uses 2% of CPU1 and about 4MB a second of RAM upto 100MB then resets to 14MB.

Please share :)

 Do you compress this movie or just rip to hard disk?
BTW DVD Shrink does not use CPU you need a good DVD-ROM and fast hard disk.
Keep in mind that the disk plays also role.
For example I have seen speeds 6MB/sec for some movies and for others 17MB/sec.
My DVDROM is Plextor ATA 66. I also manage swap file size. :santa:

Are you sure it isn't supposed to use any CPU?
When using it I've seen my processor hover from 40-80% usage sometimes hitting 100%

Yeah I guess I compress it a little to fit on a DVD. I have a decent DVD burner I think (see sig) but it only hits 6MB/sec at the end of the disc, it would be better if it kept this speed from the start. I'm ripping it to my raptor so that shouldn't be a problem.

Its usually a case of the more compression, the slower it is. If there is no compression involved, it actually goes quite quickly.
