New XP Pro problem for me

Ok. I just installed a new hard drive in my daughters system. I am not new at this by any means. After I loaded windows and try to boot into it the first time it goes immediatley to standby at the welcome screen. If I boot into safe mode it works fine. Any ideas?

Proper chipset drivers installed (shot in the dark), proper video drivers installed (another shot in the dark)?

Go ahead and boot into safe mode, then check under Device Manager and see if anything's got a ! or x or ? by it.

Check the power management options in the BIOS. If they're enabled, try disabling them.
