Inno3d Kyro II, Locking up system

This is in two systems. On is an Asus K7V 600 Athlon System the other is a P3 800 system. If I install all the latest drivers in the Athlon system it crashes everytime I try to use 3d Acceleration. If I do the same thing in the P3 800 is will run for a few minutes then lock the system up. Any ideas. I've tried Win98 SE and Win2k, could I just have a bad card?

Almost forgot to mention that both systems work flawlessly running a Voodoo 3000 AGP.

I had more than a few problems with a new Kyro II card. Win2K would not even accept the drivers that were supplied on the disk. This tweak guide for the Kyro might help solve your problems, I solved mine by getting a GeForce2MX. So I can't really offer any more firsthand advice http://www.3dspotlight.com/tweaks/kyro2/index.shtml

Check to see if FastWrites are enabled in your BIOS. If so, disable it.

Might also want to try running your AGP in 2X instead of 4X.

Miniport drivers installed on the AMD system?

the card is really a 2x spec card, so running it at 4x might cause probs. dunno though, cos mine's worked perfectly. try running the hercules drivers on your card. they're all based so closely on the reference design that it should work. i'm running the latest hercules ones on my apollo kyro II with no issues.

Do you have 512MB of RAM or more? With 512 RAM in my systems I couldn't use 3d acceleration. Took a stick out and dropped it down to 256 RAM and the card worked fine. Wrote to tech support and they said it was a known issue and they were working on it. Doesn't happen to everyone and doesn't happen to everyone with over 256 RAM. But might be something to try also.

Demidron,

What drivers are you using with the card? I have a Hercules 4500 and I've had the most luck w/ PowerVR's Reference Drivers for most games. Hercules drivers work for most but seem to be a little more finicky than PowerVR's set.

The attached page has the newest driver release which fixes the DirectX 8.0 bug. Give 'em a try if you haven't yet. Good luck!
