Okay this guy is selling a Duron 600 O/C or as he says it unlocked to 1ghz. He says its 100fsb. But when I do some research I only see it as 200fsb. So whos right then? And whats good board for this cpu? And money is an object to me.

All of the Athlon / T-BIRD / DURON CPU's utilize a double data rate FSB. This means that rather than sending one bit of data per clock cycle, these CPU's send two bits per cycle, in effect making the FSB twice the actual speed.

That being said, I can tell you that all of the standard overclocking practices that apply to the higher performance T-BIRD CPU's will also apply to the DURON series as well, including an increased FSB of 133/266MHz or more.

As far as the DURON 600 in particular, I've had very successful results with a couple of these particular CPU's myself, attaining speeds of better than 1100MHz with FSB's as high as 140 / 280MHz.

Good Luck!

Frank - Okay you lost me with your knowledge of the subject. Simple question is do they make a 100fsb duron 600? If so whats a good MB? I notice you have a A7V MB with a duron 600. So is this cpu compatable with 200/233fsb motherboards?

Yes the Duron will be compatable with any of the Socket A motherboards.
I will try to explain what Frank said. The frontside bus runs at 100Mhz, but due to the way Durons and Athlons work the efficiency is doubled so:-

100Mhz FSB=200Mhz (All Durons and some Athlons)
133Mhz FSB=266Mhz (Some Athlons)

If the FSB is increased the processor will be running at double the FSB so:-

105Mhz=210Mhz
110Mhz=220Mhz
140Mhz=280Mhz

I hope that this explains the 200/266Mhz issue.

high oc

Hi!

I have a Duron 600@1155 (144fsb=288), I've also been running it at 1160 (160fsb=320) so the duron 600 rocks!

That's a bit better than my 1000@1130. Should solve that with new Mobo coming soon. Nice OCing OC&Burn, welcome to The Forum:)

Thanks!

Well, this little 600 is one heck a cpu, It's hard to beleive a 600 from summer '99 will oc better than most of the durons released/produced today. Im running it now at 1150@153fsb 5-2-2-2. Im getting 620/730 in sisoft sandra, pretty good for a none DDR system :) .

With a voltage mod, 1200 isn't too far away, it goes past the bios check but hangs when it starts to load windows.

Hey guyz a quick question about the motherboard. The guy tells me the MB needs to have a 10x multiplier. Do all motherboards have this? Whats a cheap one that I can use with the Duron 600 O/C to 1ghz?
