I was thinking, how is anyone ever gonna know if they are lucky enough to get an unlocked intel processor if their mobo doesnt have multiplier settings?

My best bet is that you couldn't know.

Actually most of the decent Intel mobos I have used DO have the multiplier setting. Just to tease, I guess.
I make a point of trying them out on every new Intel CPU I get- no luck so far!!

Ah that reminds me. Some guy at HardOCP got an unlocked Tualatin ES on eBay for $187 a while back. Grumble grumble

There are a few unlocked ones that come from the factory like that, they're called Engineering samples.
