I was thinking, how is anyone ever gonna know if they are lucky enough to get an unlocked intel processor if their mobo doesnt have multiplier settings?
 
My best bet is that you couldn't know.

That would be a pretty craptacular situation, but then again, "what you don't know can't hurt you".
 
Actually most of the decent Intel mobos I have used DO have the multiplier setting. Just to tease, I guess.:) I make a point of trying them out on every new Intel CPU I get- no luck so far!!
 
Ah that reminds me. Some guy at HardOCP got an unlocked Tualatin ES on eBay for $187 a while back. Grumble grumble

You cant actually Unlock it.

There are a few unlocked ones that come from the factory like that, they're called Engineering samples.
