Last AGP card: which would you choose?

Option #1: Gigabyte 6800NU 128mb DDR (used)
Comes stock with their passive cooling solution-large copper heatsink/heatpipe. Unlocks to 16/6 and clocks at 405/860 or so. $165

Option #2: BBA X800XL VIVO 256mb GDDR3 (used)
Seller just got it back from an RMA, so it's basically new. Unkown how well it will OC. $175 plus I have to trade my 5600Ultra (which is only worth $35 or so). I don't really have much use for VIVO.

Option #3: Sapphire X800GTO 256mb GDDR3 (new)
Brand new OEM from newegg. Clocked at 400/980, could possibly clock a lot higher (the PCI-E version does but I can't find much about the AGP version). $193
Looks like newegg is out of stock today but I'm sure it can be found for the same price elsewhere.

Option #4: Wait (even longer...) for the AGP 6800GS to come out. Hopefully it will be available for $200, and will unlock to 16 pipes, and will OC like crazy... or it could suck and I would have waited for nothing.

Notice I didn't start a poll... looking for explanations here. Thanks!

I think I'd go with option 2, that's a very nice price for an X800XL.

Yep, you can get 6800GTs refurb or used off classifieds for around $200.

#2. The XL is 16 pipes at stock. Plus that's an amazing price. It'll do a lot better than the 6800NU

I have been looking for a 6800GT on the forums (have had bad luck with refurb) but they are hard to find in AGP, and when I do find one it is usually priced around $220-$240. That's a bit more than I had wanted to spend.

I'd go with the x800xl too, options 1 and 3 are kinda iffy, I think if you're going for an upgrade, you might as well get the best you can afford. And option 4 has too many unknowns.

I don't believe they make a GTO2 in AGP. I've seen reports of them, but I think they always ended up being misprints and they were really PCI-E, or really just GTO's. In any case, the AGP version of GTO doesn't ever unlock (different core I think). But I was looking at the review on THG where they OC it and it does better than an X800XL... so I don't know.

Also, for someone who said the X800XL does better than the 6800GT, I don't see that from all the comparison tests I can find. The GT seems to be better by a bit, on pretty much every game.

I am waiting for the 6800gs... I sure hope that it is worth it. But, with SM3.0, HDR, etc I think that it will be the best for extending the life of my AGP rig. It should be out by month's end...

For everyone else: Why is the X800XL so well liked? As far as I can tell, it's usually a pretty poor overclocker. As a stock card, it's decent, but who wants to run at stock?

Those are also of interest to me... Where are you getting your info about the release date? I can't find much.

Well, on a different forum (Canadian e-tailer) the FA told me that they should be getting stock MAYBE between xmas and new years, but probably after xmas. Been following some European e-tailers with pre-orders on the card like this one:

http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=316258&cks=PRL

And here is a link to a pic of the actual AGP card... first one I have found:

http://www.trustedreviews.com/article.aspx?art=2240

As you can tell, I am interested in this card... damn I want one NOW!!

Cheers.

That's a question I've been asking ever since its debut...I did like my X800 Pro very much. There's one in the classies for $165 at this moment, and deals like that aren't hard to find. The downside is that it's not unlockable, though it should clock well enough to compensate as long as you're not heavy into AA. If I were you, I would scour classies to find an X800XT. They can be had for around $210-220 if you look hard enough, and will completely beat out any of the other choices you listed.

If you are into overclocking the x800xl isnt for you. My friend has one and got it clocked at 467/567 but what is sad is my 6800GT clocked at 389/525 easily beats it, and i have a lot more room to overclock, i just need to get a zalman vf700, cause the stock stuff stinks on my card anyways. The x800GTO isnt bad and does quite well in overclocking expecially if you can flash it to a x850xt bios. The 6800GS will come out soon and should be just as good as a 6800gt and x800xl at stock. The gs should overclock nicely as well.

It is never a good idea to buy things during the holidays imo since the prices are jacked up a bit.
