How many lubic cases have you made??? It looks really nice, good job man
What lubic kit do you use? How do you cut the acrylic?

Nice job. I especially like the cable managmement. So many acrylic cases look like some shoved the components into a the box like dirty laundry into a duffel bag. Very clean. I just bought a lubic case for work to build a test rig with. I put up a pic when I get it done.

Thanks all.

I used a jigsaw (I think 30 tpi blade) to cut the acrylic. Hole saw for holes, and Dremel for some small holes.

I bought 2 Lubic airplane kits year and half ago? Made the dual tower system thread here.

Still a load of parts left, so started this system.

Now don't laugh, cause I took stock of what I had left, sketched something out, and I still have enough parts for yet another system! So my next project is actually going to be the Lubic Work Bench Project. I have to find a place that can cut some of the aluminum bars, tho. Oh and I don't have any computer components left anymore.

Dude, just get a angle grinder and put a cut wheel on it. It should cut through the aluminum very well

Unfortunately, don't have much in the way of power tools, even an angle grinder. I could borrow a sawzall, but the bars need to be pretty exact in length so that I don't end up with a trapezoid. So I would probably need a sander or a grinder also.

I'm not sure, never took a day of shop in my life. Seems to me a professional with a decent table band saw could zip them off in 2 minutes.

Wow that's really something Navig, I love your Lubic cases!!!

The design itself is great, I especially like the non-mixing airflow patterns.
The tinted case material (forget what it is now lol) looks great, I liked the pictures that had the white lights on. The controller is a great idea also....man I can't believe you did it so cheaply also, nice work!

I also saw a HDD Cover mod in there...VERY cool!

where can one purchase lubic kits from? The aerocool site doesn't seem to have a link to buy them and Xoxide says they're not carrying them anymore.

I like the case, but there is too much wasted space. You could have made it a lot smaller.

smaller?! Why would he want to do that. Big case = tons of room to work with which also = great airflow.

Thanks for the comments.

There's definitely a lot of room left in the hard drive and optical drive shelves. I call it room for expansion, but really its mostly I haven't the budget right now for any more hard drives. The hard drive shelf is currently drilled for 4 hard drives with easy spacing so air can move thru. If I wanted to be more efficient I could easily flip the drives horizontal, in 2 banks, plus move the optical drive up a little, leaving room easily for 8 hard drives. Cabling could get a little messy as 2 would have to be IDE and 6 SATA, but it could be done.

Will I ever need that many hard drives? Its possible, I think this system is destined to be a multimedia computer.

The psu shelf, I didn't really want to mess with. PSUS get pretty warm.

The motherboard shelf, if you look closely, has pretty much no room to play with (notice the i/o panel--with about 5mm clearance from the exhaust fan).

Thinks could be shrunk further, if I were to use smaller fans, but really once you work with 120mm fans, nothing less will do.

Well what i mean is instead of stacking everything like you did, justing making it really tall. I would have made things shorter but would have put the hdd and dvd drives in the same little area.

Yea its a unique and cool idea and its cool to see someone make something different. I'm one of those college students living in the good old dorm rooms and i dont see it practicle for me....due to the lack of space in dorm rooms.....

Thats why i say its too big....
