F@H Spotlight #6
This is the 6th in the series of T32 Spotlights! I'll continue to interview members when given a chance. The interviews will appear in a spotlight every now and then as long as the nominations keep coming in! For how to go about nominating a fellow folder, please go to THIS THREAD. To see the ever growing list of who has been interviewed and the expected date of the next spotlight, please go to THIS THREAD. Well... a few months back when Dark_15 and I were helping to reorganize the team, I took on the task of helping to organize team leadership. In this, we took a vote to see who would be Team Captain and be our 'voice and sense of leadership'. We ended up with what was basically a tie and those 2 members were and still are very important to the team. One of them, David, has gone on to become a MOD and is giving back to the forums in that capacity. The other leader is still a SENIOR, but that doesn't make him any less important. He has been very busy with RL in the past few months so many of you newer folk may have never heard of him, but to those of us who have been around a while.... I'd like to reintroduce you all to a great friend... **oh yeah, don't forget that ya offered to show off yer nipple! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I.M.O.G. When did you join the Team? I first joined T32 at the start of 2003. I only had my own rig at home folding. Sometime after that, I rejoined the team as BorgIncarnate, grabbing a bunch of family and friends machines at the time. Currently, you'll find me in the top 20 producers and in the 28th spot on the team. If there was something recent that you did that you wanted your fellow teammembers to know about, what would it be? I spent 16 months as an intern with Sherwin-Williams, and through that I got to spend this past summer on the West Coast in Portland, OR. While there, I was the interim site administrator at a paint brush manufacturing facility. Being independently in charge of their technology operations, I was able to borg approximately 40 desktop P4's while there, which currently make up a great deal of my production. Those on the team that know me, probably noticed that my forum activity dropped off through this period, and is just now starting to pick up to where it used to be... I have the 7th most posts on OCF, and despite being inactive for 8 months I still average over 8 posts per day. I've been a member of OCF since November 12th, 2002. What is your EOC (extremeoverclockers) stats link? BorgIncarnate So where do ya happen to live at? I live in Cleveland, OH. You can find me here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=11119+...&iwloc=A&hl=en How did you initially hear about F@H? Member sigs... Seeing "I fold for T32" got me curious. Originally, I had no idea what folding was and thought it was probably something too nerdy for me. Then I figured out that I could contribute to worthwhile research, with good documentation of results, without spending any money really. Its something small I can do while young and I know exactly what the resources are going to... I liked that a lot better than sending money to a charity and not really knowing what happens with it. After starting, why do you continue to Fold? I enjoy the atmosphere in the folding forum, and want to keep contributing. The stats at EOC were a huge part of holding my interest also. What do you do for a living? A few months back I was hired full time as a PC/LAN Analyst with Sherwin-Williams... Which means I do computer and LAN connectivity work. Aside from that, I'm trying to get more frequent contracts outside of work, and considering becoming a barback for Tequila Ranch on weekends. What do you do for fun? I spend a lot of time in the Warehouse district nights and weekends with my drinking buddy. I'm single and just having fun while I can right now; I know someday thats all gonna change. Until then though, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Is there anything special you do in your spare time that you really enjoy? The forums. I've always really enjoyed the forums... I owe the job I now hold to the information I first uncovered there. OCF gave me a jump start with PC's, and taught me that I had a serious interest there. I followed that interest and learned as much as I could on my own, at the forums and elsewhere. I've been in college since I joined the forums and I'm still finishing my bachelors by going part-time, so I'm sure that helped me in some way. But just doing what I did, all the pieces fell into place when it came to starting my career. To summarize, I enjoy learning in my own way in my spare time. Going to college put me in the right position to capitalize on the opportunity, but it was the independent learning through the forums and other avenues which really got me to where I am. Time to spill your guts. What are the stats of your main folding rig? Why is it your fave? What all do you use the rig for? My "main" folding rig is unimpressive... Its running a Pally 1800+ with 1.25GB RAM and 750GB of storage on a Soltek sl75drv2 powered by an enermax PSU. Its got an ancient nVidia 256 geforce, audigy2, and a RAID controller that is used as a plain old IDE controller. This is also my main rig, but its been the most consistent folder over time. I use this rig mostly for media - TV, Movies, Music. I also am a heavy USENET user, and I run the newsbin client... I used version 4.xx until recently, which put the large RAM capacity to good use. Anyone else whose run newsbin and loaded all of the headers from a large "alt.binaries.*" group knows how badly it can kick a systems but. I game very sparingly, but I recently reloaded starcraft and I can feel the addiction coming back. Do you have a Borg-Farm? If so, how many computers, and what are they? I have a farm of about 40 PC's, mostly P4's with 512MB of ram. What are your future goals? What do you most want to accomplish with your life? My ultimate goal currently is to kick ass at my job. I want to be the guy that everyone comes to when they need to confirm that something is technically accurate and feasible. In regards to life, down the road I just hope to be as good of a parent and husband as my dad was. If there is something you want to tell the team, then spill your guts! What have I missed in my questions that could help the team learn more about you and who you are? For those that don't know, IMOG stands for In Memory Of Gus. Gus was a pot belly pig that my girlfriend at the time got for me. He had a heart defect and passed on a long time ago. Guys.... something extra special again this week! I.M.O.G. gave me plenty of links dealing with him! They come from Facebook and Myspace and include info, stories, pics, and other things that can help ya get to know this one great guy! You can find a bit more about me on facebook here: You can also find some pictures of me, Gus (he's on page 2 of my albums), and my travels this summer here: Other than those, I'm on myspace but I haven't brought myself to configure my page yet... I'd like to do it manually. Here's the link: Me at the top of my hike: The view from the top of my hike: Friends and I at our work party: Gus and Hillary: Thanks for the interview, and let me know if you have any follow up questions. Matt, I dont' think there ARE any follow up questions I could give ya. You were a great sport, and again, thanks for allowing me to interview you and help bring you and your part in the team to the forefront so that members new AND old can get to know you (again).

I thought it was about time to bring Matt (I.M.O.G.) back into the public mix. He's been gone well over 8 months and there are quite a few guys who are active now that weren't around when Matt was going strong before.

just wanted to make sure that some of the newer members know how "eccentric" some of the older members were. This way they can't say we did not warn them.

I guess you could say I'm not a big fan of the delete key. ![]() I need to re-evaluate my approach however... I bought a splitter last night and I still don't have enough connections coming off my Realpower 550.

Ya, there are physical limitations on that... I have a CM Praetorian case, with all HDD bays used and one HDD in a floppy bay. The next drive will need to use a 5.25 to 3.5 bay adapter. So the space limitations make getting a second PSU in the box more or less out of the question... My system is also in the main room of my apartment, so aesthetic value is a consideration also. If I didn't like the look of my case so much, I'd get something larger to suit my needs, but I'm going to try to make this case work for as long as possible... Once 500GB drives come down in price this should ease my problems somewhat. For now, I'll likely just get another splitter when I need to... Though I should make sure I'm not drawing too much amperage on any of my 12v lines first.
