Question *HELP* AMD 3700+ SanDiego/Asus A8N-SLi Premium ---what performance?

hello, I am new to the forums.

I did some research and these are the new toys I recently purchased to enjoy over the holiday season:

AMD 3700+ san diego core
Asus A8N-SLi premium mobo
eVGA 6800gs(yes, GS.) 256mb 256-bit ddr3 pci-e GPU
Patriot Signature 1gb(2x512mb dual channel) ddr400 pc3200 CL3 ram w/ heat spreaders
Thermaltake typhoon CL-P0114 120mm cpu fan
Thermaltake 430W power supply (re-used from previous system)
CoolerMaster Cavalier case
WD 250gb 7200rpm 16mb-cache PATA hdd (re-used from previous system)
NEC 16x DL DVD+-RW burner (# 3550A)
Windows XP Pro

---i cant wait to get all the parts so i can start building.I am new to overclocking, but have been building computer systems for years.

As far as the setup above, what kind of performance should i be expecting? I have been told of guys using the AMD 3700+ SD-core and running it all the way up to FX-57 speeds and still keep it stable? What do you think? HOW DO I DO THIS? Does anyone have experience with this cpu or mobo? should i have gotten something else? what do u think of the 3700+'s potential for gaming in comparison to the 3800+ x2 manchester core? how about 3dmark03/05 ?

previous system: P4 2.66ghz w/ ECS mobo, 1gb ddr400, and running ATI 9800pro AGP video.

Things I do:
CS:source
F.E.A.R.
HL 2
BF 2
AOE3
burn dvd's
MULTI-TASK. (burning a dvd, email, browse firefox w/ 5+ tabs, and listening to music, etc.)

I hope to receive all this stuff before 12/24, but it is unlikely.
I know, wait and see, but I cant stop thinking about it! ANY comments/suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance.

Best advice on how to start OC'ing is to read the stickies. They have pretty much everything you need. You should be able to get a fairly decent OC out of this setup.

Lightbulb hey guys.

UPDATE:

1)two sticks of 1gb Kingston HyperX pc3200 CL2 ddr
2)300gb SATA Seagate drive

-----is it worth upgrading to an AMD 3800+ X2, or just stick w/ this 3700+ SD?

thanks for the feedback dudes.
