Ok well I have $350 AUD to spend on upgrades on my other computer..
my current specs are:
Intel Pentium 4 2.6HT
ATI Rad 9600SE 128mb
1024mb generic DDR RAM
160gig IDE 2mb cache HDD
ect..

I already have a PCI-E 6600GT that i will use in it so for now, i just need a new mobo and cpu.
I was thinking about getting this mobo:

(supports both ddr and ddr2, as well as AGP and pci-e)
with this CPU:

Now i know Intels are not as good as AMD's (for gaming, thats pretty much all i do on my computer) and Celerons are even worse intels :p
But im just thinking about performance for price range AND upgradability.

Now i have a few questions..
1. how much better perfomance will i get out of the 3.2 celeron compared to my 2.6 p4?
2. with that mobo is it possable to use both ddr and ddr2 at the same time or only 1 of the kind?
3. Ive got a 6600GT PCI-E GPU at home but i only have a 350 watt PSU .. will that be enough ?
4. What is the fastest Intel CPU that motherboard will support?

Oh and about a month later ill probs buy 2gig of DDR2 ram and something like a 3.6 64bit P4.

1. it would depend on how much cache that celeron had and how much cache the p4 youre comparing it to has. clock speeds arent always important.

2.i think ddr and ddr2 are two different technologies so you wont be able to use both at once.

3. i would upgrade that psu if you intend to overclock. if not then it should be enough, but without further details about your rig i wouldnt be able to tell.

4. probably a dual core p4, but those arent really worth the performance/price ratio.

what motherboard are you using?
The motherboard i posted in the link..
this one: http://www.asrock.com/product/product_775Dual-880Pro.htm
or are you talking about the one im using currently?
its an asus P4SD-LA

My current cpu is clocked at 2600mhz with 512k L2 cache and 200 FSB 32bit soc 478 while the celeron is clocked at 3200mhz with 256k L2 cache and 533FSB 64bit soc 775.

Damn, but i thaught so..

I do intend to overclock.. and i will get a 500w PSU soon :)

Ahh i see...
