Wich of the following settings is better:

CPU: X2 3800+ @ 10x240FSB (2400MHz) with memory set to DDR400 2.5-3-3-5( @240Mhz )
OR
CPU: X2 3800+ @ 9x266FSB (2400Mhz) with memory set to DDR333 2-2-2-5( @217Mhz )

I use same memory for both settings (Corsair TwinX PC3200C2PRO v4.3)
I only applied a lower multiplier and lower DDR rate
I want to know which of the 2 settings gives me better performance...
will it affect memoryspeed if i set it to DDR 333 ?

I hope u understand what i mean cause my english is not that good.
thanks in advance.

better for what? games? compiling code? rendering CAD? descryption?

ultimately you wont notice much of a difference in anything other than your benchmarks. Actual performance in day-to-day use will not be that much different with either setting. (you probably wont notice at all).

so my answer? whichever setting is more stable.

have you tried clocking the CPU higher with either setting?

Higher fsb = higher performance.
Maybe, but you also have to have decent timings. This is why DDR2 used to be inferior. It offered high FSBs, but the timings were AWFUL.

Kalero,
I suggest trying some benchmarks to determine the best setting. If you're looking for bandwidth, try testing them with Sisoft Sandra or some such program. And if you want gaming performance, try 3DMark03.

Generally I agree. However, I've notice useful increases in FPS in games like BF2 when higher memory bandwidth is available.

Use something like memtest86 to check bandwidth and stability. If you have a DFI NF4 board, it's built into the BIOS.
