I finally got the money together to buy the rest of the parts for my new gaming comp but im confused on what fans are ok to put on the HF and connect to the MB. I've read a lot about some fans burning headers on the MB and a lot of the fans tell you not to use them as HSFs.

so far my comp is

AMD64 3000 XP120 HS
DFI NF4 ultra-D
OCZ Power Stream 520w
74GB raptor
BenQ dvd rw with lightscribe
CN stacker 810
eVGA 7800gt
1gig mushkin

Ive got just about everything on the way now except a fan and I'd hate to have it all here and not be able to run it because I get an incompatible fan.

Well, what heatsink do you have? Or do you need one of those too? If a fan can't be run off a motherboard header, you can just connect it to the power supply.

XP120 heat sink so im looking for a 120mm fan for it. For example this fan says not to use it on the MB.

This is my first build so if the questions sound stupid thats why.

what type of fan are you looking for? high speed high cfm? low speed quiet fan, or medium?

if youre worried about burning headers then just hook it up to a fan controller. just make sure no one messes with your controls.

Look for a Delta TFB1212GHE. I have two and they're the best out there. Or, get the FFB1212EHE, if you can't find the first one. It's not quite as good but it'll do the trick. Connect those directly to a power supply molex. You don't _have_ to run your CPU fan from the motherboard. If you want to use a fan controller, get a Delta FFB1212VHE. It's not as strong as either of the others, though.

You can get the EHE and VHE here:

They're not too bad, I have two GHE's and am just waiting for a heatsink to use them with, most likely TT Sonic Tower. If noise is a concern, the VHE with a fan controller would be perfect.
