I remember seeing a post about the importance of the right airflow and fan placement, it also included a few diagrams... was wondering if anyone knows what I'm talking about?!?!

All I know is that the results of the tests/diagrams were amazing, and would like to try to setup my case fans right. From what I remember, its all about fan placement, not how many you have (quality > quantity :p )

Generally, In at the lower front of the case and exhaust at the rear top or out a blowhole in the top.

hmm, it musta been around 1-2 years ago...but it wasn't on this forum. I was just wondering if any of you might have seen it before. O well **shrug**

I've seen a few versions over the years. Basically, what you need is an air "flow", flow being the operative word. Get the air in and then get the air out. How you go about doing it is up to you. Adding cool air to components that need extra cooling is fine as long as you've got a way to get rid of the hot air after the components have been cooled, if the hot air is just going to circulate, why bother?

Yeah, most people have cool air in front the front and have hot air exhaust from rear and top. Try to have one direction of airflow, usually air blowing from front to back.

have your exhaust more toward the top (hot air rises), and intake toward the bottom (cold air goes down since hot air goes up).

hi'
far to be a specialist, I found that a good 92 in front intake, a side 120 intake, with a 80mm in the back exhaust and one more on the top was lowing the basic temp for a good 10°c ... in my old modded case ;)
sorry no pic, no have a digit cam :(

A side panel fresh air duct is the best idea. Combine that with a single rear exhaust fan and you have about the best air flow possible with minimum noise.

Currently my dual reversed fans with dual side duct is performing very well. The fans have separate ducts with the hot air fan exhaust directed towards the back. The fresh air intake fan blows on the mobo and cools the board, while the HSF uses that air to cool the HS and exhausts the heat before it heats up the mobo.
