For all you air cooler fanatics out there! Scythe Ninja Deals!

Hey eveyone, i was doing some research for a buddy's build and came across some good deals on the Ninja from the usual stores i go to. Xoxide has the Ninja for 35 bucks and PTS has Ninja combos with the new S-flex fan or Nexus fan for 47-48 bucks. Seeing that these fan usually retail around 15 bucks thats a pretty good deal. Here are the links:

http://www.xoxide.com/scythe-scnj-10...ja-cooler.html
http://www.shoppts.com/scniw12scsfa.html
http://www.shoppts.com/scniw12nesic.html

Jabtech also has the Ninja for 36 bucks, so check that out too. I guess pick the place with the cheapest shipping. In terms of performance, IMO the Ninja w/ a quiet 120mm fan is 2nd to none

So how good are these realy? I am somewhat looking for a quieter cooling method for my rig. My XP-90+92mm fan can be pretty loud.

Is the Scythe Ninja better than the TT Typhoon or the XP90(c)?

From all the research i've done and user feedback, the Ninja should be one of the best if not the best out there. The TT big typhoon is right up there along with the Zalman 9500, but IMO the Ninja work better when you stick on a low cfm fan. Some people have even used this cooler passive on some 64 processors, but im too scared to try.

The 90c isn't the best?

i think the xp90c performs on par with the xp120, and the Ninja outperforms the xp120. the 90c is limited by the 92mm fan. Yes, you can slap on a high cfm fan, but then you get much more noise. The Ninja cools best at low cfm ratings, so you get a quieter cooler that still performs better. Plus the Ninja's got more freakin heatpipes then any other cooler ive seen.

From what I hear from users though, more air goes onto the motherboard than it looks. Still wouldn't beat my Si-120.

SilentPCReview rates coolers (just like a ton of other sites) and they rated the Ninja just a tad better than anything that they had tested at the time.

From what I've read in various forums, the concensus is that the Ninja works best with low pressure fans (due to the large space between the fins) and the XP-120 is best with high pressure fans.

Here is a link to the review at SPCR...nice pics, too.

I'm more of a fan of lower-pressure; thus, lower dBa levels!!! The high pressure on the fins makes it loud!!! I remember b/c I used to have a damn Vantec Tornado on a Thermalright SP-97. Man, was that a headache...

Yup...that is probably why this sink is such a hit with the crowd over at SPCR.

The way to avoid the irritating sound of a loud Tornado is to...use four or six, then the roar of one drowns out the other and you end up with nothing but white noise...just remember that you have to use them in pairs to drown each other out or otherwise you'll still be able to hear the "unpaired" one.

Now, let me tell you about some "high & dry" swamp land that I have for sale in S. Florida...

Use 4 or 6 within the case or on top of each other??? And since you said it should be even numbers, why not 2?
