Sleep Mode


My friends 4 year old compaq has recenlty had a problem, when he powers it on it does nothing for 30 seconds and then it says going into sleep mode in a little gray box in the middle of the screen, i assume its hardware. any ideas?

When it boots up try pressing the f8 key to get it into safe mode. If that works, then you have a hardware or software problem that is triggering shutdown on bootup. Let us know what operating system and hardware specs your friend's computer has. Then, maybe we can be of more assistance.
