A8N32-SLi Deluxe Frequency Question

I notice in the chipset configuration section that there is the following configurations:
K8 > NB frequency [Auto]
K8 > NB Linkwidth [Auto]
SB > NB frequency [1000Mhz]
SB > NB frequency [16 up and 16 down]

If you then look at the advanced tab, there is another setting for SB > NB frequency, but that one is set to [200mhz].

My questions:
1. Why are the 2 SB > NB frequencies contradicting themselves. One says 200mhz while the other says 100mhz.
2. If I overclock, how are the K8 > NB frequencies/linkwidth affected and should I set them to a manual setting to ensure stabilty?

There is a HUGE thread on this mobo on xtremesystems.org:

Clicky

Search that thread and you'll find more than you care to know.

One of these settings is related to your FSB (aka HTT). You set the multiplier such that the FSB X the multiplier is less than 1000.

Next time I boot up I"ll scratch it all down.

Thanks for the link. Is there a program which can actually show the HT speed? Doesn't seem like CPUZ shows.

BTW are you running 1103 or 1009 Bios.
whatever you posted seems you still using 1009 Bios right.

mine are:

K8 > NB frequency [x5]
K8 > NB Linkwidth [16 up and 16 down]
SB > NB frequency [x5]
SB > NB frequency [16 up and 16 down]

Well no bios yet. I'm building the system tomorrow, waiting for my psu. I've been reading a lot online and the manual. I understand that the newer bios' have a multiplier setting in that chipset configuration page which makes a lot more sense. I understand also, that the HT is made up from the HTT/FSB x HT multipler (as you displayed on the chipset confguration page).

As I stated in my original post, there's also a setting on the cpu configuration page that also shows SB > NB frequency set at 200mhz. The fsb setting is also 200mhz. So does the HT overclock higher from raising the HTT/FSB like I've read in stickies, or is it from that SB > NB frequnecy on the cpu configuration page that is also set at 200mhz. Perhaps the SB > NB frequency setting that is set at 200mhz on the cpu config page is greyed out when you're manually adjusting the HTT/FSB *shrugs* Guess i'll find out tomorrow.

Sorry, I don't know any. But I haven't tried to find one either. I guess I"m more interested in FSB and CPU freq. than hypertransport bus speed.

Just note that if you're using the 3500 at its speeds of 235, then X4 above might be better unless you're going to run on a divider to where X5 would be fine. You want to stay under or around 1000,i.e. 235X4 = 940 when running no memory divider.

Whoops, does the 3500 run at 235 or 215?
