about evga step-up

do they call up teh retailers to make sure the right date is purchase on the invoice?

I don't think they go to that much trouble, the worst case scenario they deny the stepup.
They are way to busy dealing with other problems.

Check their forum's for the card you are stepping up to for any big problems.
I had some problems with the 7800GS AGP.

On a simliar topic, would they accept a card that has had the stock cooler on it replaced? Even if I put the stock cooler back on before sending it in? I would think they should accept it, since the terms in their step-up program only state the card has to be in re-sellable condition, and says nothing about things that would void warranties, but I want to know if anyone has had a similar experience?

As long as its resellable you would be OK.

They make you fax/email an invoice, and usually the invoice has the date of the purchase.
