If I remember correctly Maxtor have a 1 year warranty and if it is used and making noise I would say stay a way.

I would watch the Sunday ads for a new Seagate drive, which have a 5 year warranty.

Just my 2 cents.

staples had 200gb maxtors for 40bucks A.R. so not even that good of a deal if it wasnt noisy
