820D Temperature Woes

Im having a real tough time overclocking my 820D. No matter what I set the Vcore to it changes it to much higher according to pc probe (example: set vcore to 1.3 and it runs at 1.38).

The cpu vcore is set to auto in the bios because im not sure what to use. It runs the vcore at 1.42 and the cpu runs at 45C on any frequency, including stock. If I lower the vcore to 1.25 which is the lowest possible, the vcore still says its running at around 1.3-1.4 in pcprobe. This causes the temperature to go lower but if I overclock the vcore goes higher by itself, causing the temps to go up.

Ive remounted the heatsink multiple times so I dont think thats the problem. Maybe my heatsink isnt powerful enough? Im using the Zalman Copper 120mm cpu cooler.

My goal is 3.4ghz but the temps are just too high. Also I dont know what I should be setting everything to so it would be nice if someone could make some suggestions like what vcore to use, ram speed/timings, ect.

Setup is in sig

you really don't need to up the vcore unless your getting instability on stock voltage. most can do 3.4 on stock voltage. If the vcore is set to auto, it shouldn't climb. Have you tried jus setting it outright to like 1.3 in the bios and see what happens?

really though 45C isnt bad at all for an 820d
at full load mine runs nice and toasty 63C overclocked to 3.56ghz

45 isnt bad for this proc at all

my board was the same way. the 820 pulls about 1.38 at stock voltage, give or take a few .01's. Anything I set in my bios lower doesnt matter.

But like they said above, no need to mess with voltage until you run into stability problems. should clock to 3.3 or 3.4 on stock voltage with little temp increases, give it a shot and let us know what you get.

Turns out I didnt have enough thermal paste on the cpu. Overclocked to 3.4 idle temp 40C load temp 60C. But I have the voltage set to 1.25, even though it runs at about 1.33 I think having it lower then around 1.4 will cause stability problems but Ill find out I guess.
