Change login screen

I want to change my welcome screen, and i have found apps that do it. Is there a way (like using un-signed themes) to change this WITHOUT having to load or use another application?

Mike

If you google it I know it is possible. Maybe on the neowin site... I saw a way of doing it and it involved tweaking the registry... so I gave up and went with the program

Probably the best free/non-spyware way to do this (and the method I use) is through LogonStudio: http://www.stardock.com/products/logonstudio/. You can either get pre-fabbed .logonxp files or import bitmaps to make your own screens. It takes some getting used to but this is the screen I'm currently using: http://img55.imageshack.us/img55/4429/untitled26oz.jpg [possibly nsfw-linked to be safe & warning:150k]

You can skin the buttons and everything too but I got lazy with this particular profile.

: Nothing needs to load at startup for it to work.

You can do it with a resource hacker. It's pretty simple, you basically just replace the XP file with your file. http://www.overclockersclub.com/guid...plogonhack.php Is a pretty good guide for doing it manually.

I just copied the files over the exsisting ones in Safe Mode ad everything worked fine. Just make a back-up on the original file somewhere on your drive so you can restore it if needed.

Np. Err I just realized you seem to be trying to change the bootscreen.. if that's the case I always use Bootskin. I think between these programs, objectdock, and windowblinds Stardock is rapidly becoming one of my favorite companies.

Just a quick note; http://www.overclockersclub.com/guid...bootscreen.php is a good guide for the boot screen. Both are very easy to do manually.

will play with though....nice guide

edit: all you do is dl a new bootscreen, name it ntoskrnl.exe, and replace the original? dun remember it being that easy

edit2: any widescreen bootscreens?

Not that I know of, and yes basically. Though you can also make your own. I have not used that excact guide but if it does not tell you how I would suggest you google it. Basically though I think its any image that is something like 16 colors max. So Black and White images are really the way to go.
