Im thinking this for the ultimate budget rig.

ECS mobo AGP+
sempron 256k s754 = $90 (combo)
1 gig pc3200 = 40 (MIR)
Forton PSU= 40
7800gs/6800gs= 270/160 (MIR)

spare case, spare hdd, cd=free yayyy

So thats about $450 or 350 for the whole rig. pretty darn cheap and i bet it would perform similar to my s939 rig. LoL

Do you think it could break 7000 05 3d marks w/ the 7800?

I know there is no upgrade path, but thats fine. :)

7k would require some decent OCing on the GS, as I get around 7300 with a 7800GT stock.
Looks like a decent setup especialy for 450 or 350!

Everything looks good but I would stick with the 6800GS. I think that system would bottleneck the 7800GS a significant amount.

3 BIG mistakes in your setup

1.ECS motherboard.. If you want cheap AND good, go Shuttle or Gigabyte
2.AGP, it's dead. The cards are more expensive than PCIE. Go that route for the future.
3.socket 754...useless. Go with the cheapest 939 available

I'd sink the difference in $$$ of the 7800 and 6800 into a better cpu/mobo.

mobo:
Try this:

cpu:

Yes it's a bit more $$$, but you'll save a bit of $$$ on the vidcard too
6800GS

7800GS(same price)

You guys have to realize he is looking for the ultimate budget rig. Where else can you get an AMD processor and mobo for $80 shipped? A s939 mobo/cpu would atleast run him $200.

Also the mobo can overclock to 250 HTT and some even higher. Howerver YMMV.

in all honesty, stick with the system, doesnt sound like you plan to upgrade, thats a great budget build. Maybe a cheap 939 board, but meh
