I got this ram in my current setup Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2, my question is i have it set at 2.5-3-3-6 1T in BIOS @200mhz. but CPUZ says its 3-3-3-8 @ 200mhz in SPD. i ran Prime95 for 3 hours and play BF2 also running 3Dmark06 and have no crashing issues. so now im wanting to over clock it. i tried 2.5-3-2-6 and it crashed. where do i adjust the Voltage on a Asus A8N32-SLI deluxe board? also if i increase the ram SPD to like 233mhz do i need to set the FSB to that also? where is the multiplier on this board? thanks buys

CPU is a 4200+ AMDx2 on a Asus A8N32-SLI deluxe

First off you are going to want to leave your ram speed (or divider) on 200 mhz. 1:1 You do not want to adjust the divider to run at the 233 or 250 mhz selection that the A8N32-Sli offers. <-- That feature is useless and inconclusive.

I was able to get 244 mhz max stable out of mine. Memtest, superpi, and dual prime stable on the rated timings. Do not worry about the CPU-Z speed timings. Go by what the manufacturer prints on the sticks and packaging. For a stable overclock using an A64 X2 processor and over 225 mhz you are going to want to run stock timings, 2.7 volts, and 1:1 (no divider) One other thing, you may have 1T issues with those sticks on the A8N32.

Good luck.

so i want to FSB and the mem settings the same? so i cant over clock this memory? 216x11=~2.4ghz and then 216mhz on the ram at 2.5-3-3-6 1T is that not ok?l how do i get more memory mhz without touching the 200 then? i cant just increase the FSB to match? also how many volts will my 4200+ take?

you increase the fsb and bring the CPU Mutiplier down to keep you proc at the same speed. Processor clock = fsb X multiplier. If you bought the multi down to 10, and raised the fsb to 240, you'd still have 2.4Ghz. That said, its likly you wont reach 240, but thats just an example. As you raise the ram speed, you may have to loosen the timings to keep it stable.

how far outa line are you willing to go to get your FBS up? is CPU speed more important then ram timing? also how high of voltage would you run on the CPU

mtm87tx,

You want to be carefull about something very important here.

There are several revisions of this Corsair C2 ram, almost every different revision uses different memory chips, meaning that bios settings and/or overclocking results will vary massively.

I bought the same exact memory as you have for my system last week and it was close to impossible to get them to work right. Luckily the shop took them back and gave me back my money.

I spent a lot of time reading about them and results range from quite overclockable, to not overclockable at all (1-2mhz max) and finally to not working at all even at stock speeds.

memtest86+ shows mine stable at 208x11=2288ghz at timings 2.5-3-3-6 @ 1T 2.75v and 1.375v on the proccessor. ran the test for almost 5 hours and no errors. so im stable where i am but i might have to go to 3-3-3-8 if i want to overclock anymore
