Need a new UPS: Any Recommendations?

I have just officially got warned of my old UPS having a bad battery. I have a belkin 1200VA 750 watt UPS which at my point with my computer was at load 40%. I need a new one, but don't really know what to get and what I need. My power supply on my computer is a 520 watt and I do have all the stuff listed in my sig running. So any help?

What are your needs? In the event of a power failure, do you want enough time to shutdown your computer safely, or do you want to be able to continue working on your PC? If you want to be able to keep the PC running, how long do you want to keep working? Will you work on tasks that draw low power (web surfing), or high power (like gaming)?

Also, what's your price ceiling?

I want something that would give me at least like 10 minutes or so, just to finish what I am doing. Not for high power, but what I have connected now, gives me around a 40 percent load on idle. I had a belkin , but the battery on those gives out very fast, this one only lasted 1 year. I want to spend no more than $150.00 on a good one. I don't know if I need a high va, joules, or watts version for what I have, don't understand those ratings.

Why not replace the battery(s)? You can get them fairly cheap on-line.

Do you think those batteries are better than the original because now that I did research on my old Belkin UPS, they say the batteries on the are cheap? Also those have to be wired in a series since there are two of them to equal an original, would I have problem doing the cross wiring?

Not cheap. Identical (OEM) and less costly. Open up your current UPS to get part numbers. Use the same wiring, etc.

The belkin UPS battery lasted only a little more than a year. Of course, thats why I can't use the warranty on it as the battery only has 1 year warranty.

This is a pretty good UPS. It's well within your price range and should satisfy your needs.
