How r yas?

Just a small question first of all, my friend asked me this but I didnt really have a decent answer for him!

What has the better graphics, a pc or an Xbox 360? I know it depends on the machine so we will use mine as an example.

Anyways...

So if the Xbox has more gfx power than my pc then why am I spending so much money on my pc? Im just looking for opinions.

I was playing Empire at war today and on some levels with plenty of units or men or spaceships etc on the screen at the one time I was getting stuttering. I just spent over £200 on my gfx card and £150 on the 2gb gskill memory soo...

Why dont I stop throwing money at my pc and just by an xbox360 or ps3 when the time comes?

Or what next do I throw some money at to improve my system? CPU?

I will probably always be a pc gamer and love pc games but I just want to know what people think about this ?

I think that dollar for dollar the dedicated gaming platforms have the PC beat every time. It is hard to put together a PC that will be able to game as well as a consoule system for the same money.

That said I would be willing to bet that the right PC would be able to beat a console for performance easy enough, but rather expensive.

well you picked a interesting topic, as of now you cant buy a graphics set up that can beat a xbox 360, but that will change very soon with quad grapchis. to answer your computer it looks good to me. i dont see how your gettting lag with 2 gigs of memory.

Im guessing that quad gfx is gonna be a lot of money :)

I dont really understand the game lag either unless its just the fault of the game, I thought that my cpu was the possible weak point in my system but its running stable at 2.5ghz.

You also have to think of the chooses. PC has far more games. I never bought an Xbox for the simple fact I didn't like enough of the games.

You can also do alot more with a PC. I understand you can put linux on an xbox box and everything. PC can still do more.

You also have multitasking. I can play a game, music and surf the web at the same time.

I have always loved my system games. With the price of the xbox360 and getting up there more and more. I don't think i'll be getting on for my own use in a long time.

Ummm... My pc graphics are much better than xbox's imo.

I can't get pr0n on my xbox.
I can on my pc.

hi-def pr0n ftw,

right now the 7900 GT and GTX both beat out the xbox 360s graphics.

This is the way it is for real.

If you do not have a High-Def TV then the PC will have better graphics. If you do the 360 will, hands down end of story quit arguing with me over this. 4th quarter this year the PC will eclipse the 360 when it has the unified shaders as well but at that point you could probably buy a CRT hdtv and a 360 for the cost of that card.

if i had the chance i would of saved for a ps3 + hdtv when it comes out... really gets tired dealing with all these problems just to play a game on a pc. Updates, glitches, constantly changing settings for a specific game, hardware problems every 6+ months, and windows rots over time :bang head

LMFAO, he said windows rots over time, pretty good way to say it.

Bottom line, computers have, and always will be for the hard core gamers. Anyone can buy a xbox, but the dedication and love is with the PC comunity no matter how you slice it. That said, its very possible to out-do any console given the right love and money.

It comes down to a few simple factors.

+ What games do you want to play? (MMO's, & RTS' will aways be best on PC)
+ What time do you have? (PC's offer much more immersive play, you set down, boot up, login, and prepare for hours of play, console is one touch 1 disk, and your on for a while then you save and press the off button)
+ Do you like being a clone? or a individual? (consoles have some mods, but lets face it, PC's are sexy all around)
+ Are you a male? (the halmark of PC's is the fact that they can be tweaked till hell freezes over to give you a little more of an edge over your peers, for that ego massaging boost of FPS)
+ Can you surf the web, and talk to your buds, while listening to music and downloading pic of chicks on a console?! HELL NO!

.:M O D D E R 4 L I F E:.

It comes down to this in my mind:
a $500 PC will never beat the $500 Xbox 360
a $500 360 will never beat the $1k+ rigs most of us on these forums run
If you are a huge gamer with cash to blow that wants to get the most out of the gaming experience, there is now way to go but PC
If you are a casual gamer that doesnt want to spend a ton of money or time tweaking your system, then the 360 (or other console) is for you

but then again, if you are the hardcore gaming kind, chances are you will want both anyway :)

I don't have any of these problems. I should probably post my most-used utilities sometime, my PC has been running like-new on the same windows installation since... well I don't know :p, but it was long before I upgraded to my X2 4 months ago.

-PC's can do much more than consoles but cost much more. Like I've said before, you will have to pay around 4 times more on a PC to get the same graphical quality in games as an Xbox 360.

-PC's play certain games better, especially online, first person, and stragety games. FPS's sticking out due to the precision of the mouse compared to a controller.

-PC's can easily get many free games off the internet. New Xbox 360 games cost $60 and the free ones don't compare to ones you can get online.

You can do more on a PC

A good PC will have better graphics

Tell me it's more fun to plug in a console than it is to build, upgrade, tweak, and mod your PC - Oh yeah you cant. because it's not

Sure you can change the casing on your xbox(i mean the whole thing, not like the 360's faceplate) - but with the PC you can do almost anything

PC games have tons of free mods - and It's easy to make your own

uhh porn?(like everyones been saying)

Can i manage photos, music and movies on a console? nope.(i dont mean look at/play them i mean edit them, get new songs, blast them out of your speakers and knock your house down while surfing the web and talking on aim or w.e)

PC online play is unsurpassable

can you say FPS/RTS/MMO?

and have you seen the xbox360's framerates? - probably not because the human eye can't detect -1832648693246129fps

more, better games on PC

xbox 360 + controllers + games + nice HDTV + 50 bucks a year PLUS your ISP bill every month(XBL)= roughly the same as a PC that can beat it (give it a few years - that 50 bucks will add up to more than a PC that can beat it)

and tell me you like the emulation software for its "backwards compatability." I havn't found one person happy with it yet

how many people have called the 360 a POS? I've heard alot.

finally, i think im done
