Which is best, 64 Venice 3500, or Opertron 144, for 939

I agree .. running stock go with the 3500 and if you plan to OC go with the 144.
The 144 will OC better than the 3500.. sure you could luck out and get a bad 144 but the chance of that happening is slim...

Ran a 3500 on my Ultra-D at just over 2700 with high volts (i believe it was 1,5-1,55)
My new 144 is running that on 1,376..
 
Opterons tend to hit a wall at lower volts, which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what kind/how good your cooling is.

Went for the 3500 option. Its my first time with AMD, and the mb i got is not that high end (Asus A8V-MX) and i hear the opetrons require fairly high end mbs.

For the moment im pretty happy, once i can get this puppy fired up.
 
i went with the 144 :) i did a lot of research because i was in your position. double the l2 cache, higher oc's and cheaper. ive seen them for around 130 a few times :)
