Maximum length for fan and power cables?

I’m considering putting a fan controller outside of my case and on a table instead (still controlling fans back in the case). It’s about 3 feet from the case to the controller, then about 4 feet to the fans from there.

Is this practical, and does anyone have a suggestion on the wire guage or connections?

A total of 7 feet on a DC circuit shouldn't give that much of a voltage drop. Though I would use 14 AWG from the PSU to the Controller and 18 AWG to the Fans.

As far as connections custom make and sleeve your own to the required length. That is what I did for my case.
