I got myself a dirt cheap upgrade to last me the next year while I save up for a bleeding edge rig. (My old system just didn't cut it anymore.)

Well I can honestly say that aside from one, nagging flaw (with the motherboard) I'm tickled pink.

Venice 3000+
K8N-E Motherboard
1 gig stick of RAM

The Venice is fine and was able to get to 2.5 GHz on 1.4 volts. The motherboard was being pretty tempermental but whether that was the board, or me making stupid newbie mistakes, I can't say. What I CAN say, is that I need to start upping the voltage if I want to push the CPU further, and I don't think the board is making the changes. Why do I think it's the board and not the CPU? Because CPU-Z says the voltage hasn't changed.and SpeedFan says the temprature hasn't changed.

Max temp at 1.4v = 52c
Max temp at 1.5v = 52c

Any ideas on how to confirm this, and if it's true, how to change/fix it?

have you double-checked the temps in the bios or checked with asus probe?
there have been problems reported with the last few bios revisions being very unfriendly to the overclocker, so you might try rolling back to 1009 or even 1006.
while a nice board, it's not really designed for overclocking so no guarantees.

btw, those temps seem a little high for a venice, regardless. are you using an aftermarket heatsink or the stock amd hs/fan?

I have the plain old k8n and it oces rather well. All though I did notice when I moved to beta bios 1011 ocing didnt worka s well. I would roll back to 1010 or 1008

Acording to my motherboard I'm using revision 0303. I'm looking at the older versions and I'm not seeing any of the revisions you guys were tlaking about.

oops, i thought you meant k8n-e deluxe. my bad.
i did some checking around various forums and didn't find much of use. there is a new beta bios at support.asus.com that might be worth a try. also, make sure you cool 'n quiet disabled in the bios.
