How can I detect if my 150gb Raptor is performing at correct speed?

I recently bought a WD Raptor 150gb and it dosen't seem to be much faster than my old 250gb 133 ata. I'm starting to wonder if the drive is not performing up to par or if it's defective. How can I test the speed to see if it's not right? Thank you!

speedfan will do a SMART test on it.

Everst home will test them
PCwizard 2006 will as well.
