eM or EA now I guess as stated in the title adn has been released in Japan for a while, but is coming to the US this summer. I read a review in Play magazine (I think it was Play) and they said its a solid game on par with the more recent Squarenix games with most of those gaming elements done very well.

Anyway, if you like these kinds of games here is a first for the box and something worth picking up:

"SAN FRANCISCO – MAY 1, 2006 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that it will publish Enchanted Arms™ exclusively for the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Enchanted Arms was created by development studio FromSoftware in Japan and is the first true next-generation Japanese RPG adventure game. The Enchanted Arms adventure takes place in a fantasy world filled with beautiful cinematic graphics and vibrant characters. It includes over 50 hours of gameplay and is the only Xbox 360 RPG with a fast-action, turn-based battle system that enables the player to move characters while in battle. Enchanted Arms is scheduled to ship in North America and Europe in summer 2006.

In Enchanted Arms, players will embark on an epic adventure filled with unique characters and more than 75 special controllable creatures that players can unlock as they progress. Players will take on the role of Atsuma, an Enchanter-in-training who will transform from a naïve student to the most powerful savior in a war 1,000 years in the making. As the story develops, players face increasingly difficult challenges and learn to master Atsuma’s special fighting and magical abilities.

“Enchanted Arms is the first classic Japanese RPG game created specifically for Xbox 360,” said Jay Cohen, vice president of publishing at Ubisoft. “With its fast-action gameplay, stunning high-definition graphics, rich and colorful environments, and over an hour of anime-style cinematics, it’s a must-have for every Xbox 360 owner.”

ps I believe this was made to tide the Japanesse market over till 99 nights and those other RPGs came out, so it took the best attributes of the genre and threw them togather. Play said it was very similar to FF in many aspects and that the devs did a very nice job (no FF7 or anything, but more like FF9 or 10).

Most people I've talked to said it isn't a very good game. The battle system is neither intuitive nor "hardcore." It's just poor design.
