OS won't boot... Nor does Safe mode

For some reason the os won't boot off the hard drives. It loads then it goes to the screen with Windows Xp and the bar with blue lines going across it, then all of a sudden the computer just restarts. So I load windows 2000 and this is how I'm posting this.

You could try booting from an XP/2000 CD, use the recovery console, and run "chkdsk /r" to find and repair errors on the drive. Use the CD instead of doing it from windows, you'll get better results. Could be other causes though, like a driver conflict or hardware failure. Now that you've loaded 2000 though, you may not be able to boot your old XP, although you could possibly get files back.
