XP 1800... Worth it's price tag?

I have been told by persons who shall remain anonymous, that the xp 1800 is not a good buy because AMD will have new t-birds out late 2001 early 2002. What should i do? get the top of the line now... or get a cheap t-bird and wait for the new ones?

Thanks,
Kevin

Top of the line now is the xp 1900+ the xp 2000+ wont be out until january.
Seems like no matter how long you wait there will be another faster chip out not long after you buy the current fastest one.

Dont know, if you think its alot look for a xp 1700+ and maybe you will get one that will overclock as high as a xp 1800+ will.
Check www.ubid.com sometimes you can get good buys.
I bought a xp 1800+ retail for $204 3 weeks ago before the latest price drop.
