My 1000 Athlon refuses to run at a bus higher than 120MHz or higher than 10.5x multiplier. Even though the MoBo has a 133/4 setting, it will make BIOS but not the post. I have dropped the multiplier as low as 7x, which it still boots at any lower and it fails to boot. I have pumped the voltage up to maximum, and still no joy at 133MHz.
Also any higher than 1197MHz will cause errors running Seti. This ARGA is really causing me OCing headaches. Got it up to a 125MHz bus earlier and lost my MFT in Win2K. Nothing I do will get it past 1197MHz or anything approaching a 133MHz bus. Any suggestions???

Does your motherboard have a jumper to select a 200 or 266 cpu?
If it does try the 266 setting or 200 setting depending on what its set on now.

I know the ARGA is not really a good overclocker, it max's out at about 1300. The RAM is brand new, and my maximum with the chip before this MoBo was 115MHz. It baffles me as to why it won't do a 133 FSB, 119 is my max until someone gets me an XP for Chrimbo.

What kind of RAM is it? Have you tried it with the timings on it way down?

If your board has a 200 or 266 jumper alot of times if its in the 200 cpu position it will stick your pci divder at 1/3 and 1/4 in the 266 position.

On your board its JP 19+20(100 or 133).

Jumpers 19+20 don't exist except in the manual. It's all set on the dip switches at 133 for the 1/4. Seems Gigabyte never released retail boards with the jumpers.

Thelemac, RAM has been set to default levels, will take it out and checkout the chip specs. Sadly I opted for generic CAS 2 PC2100, might be the problem.

I'd put money on it, myself. Seems to be the only thing that you're actually overclocking with a low mult and /4 PCI divisor.

You might consider asking the store to replace it since it isn't working at that speed.

If you have sissoft sandra boot it at the highest fsb you can and verify your pci bus is at 1/4 if it is then you can try bumping your memory voltage up to the next step even thou shouldnt need to with 2100.

Well I guess that explains why no 133mhz for 13oots2.
I do see those numbers on that chart for some 2100 2.5 ddr thou.

Spoke too soon about the RAM, rechecked before I started having a go at my supplier. Turns out it is PC2100 and is CAS#2.5, so I had another play in the BIOS.
My system is happily running at 8.5x135 and all I did was turn off Top Performance, and the RAM is running CAS#2. Lost a little in MHz, but the memory is running Seti a little faster:)

No the max I can get is a 8.5x multiplier on a 133+ bus. This processor does not like anything above 1199MHz, it seems to be a lousy stepping.

Oh well:cool: at least your in DDR land:( I'm still waiting for my board to be released to the shop. Do you know who VBH1 is?

Giga-what?

Sad man.....really sad. Ive had a few boards from Giga-Byte and they have all had what I term "Ghost Jumpers" - those little b******* existing only in the imagination of enineers and the pages of generic M/B manuals. These manuals seem to cover a great deal of variations but the most common I have seen is extra USB ports, voltage jumpers and the like not actually soldered in place. Could be a good first modding project?
