dugans' LAN 06: August Edition

Here we go again!
The dates for the annual August LAN are set:

12 and 13 August

Where:
Northern Massachusetts (details and directions by PM)

A bit earlier than usual due to vacation planning....

This may be good for some folks, may be bad for others.
It is what it is.

The Friday Night early start went pretty well last time, but it may not be possible for this one....if and when I know it will be close to the event.

Plan on arriving Saturday morning.

Details:
LAN start time: 9 am Saturday.
LAN end time: Sunday afternoon...at some point.

Games:
To be determined.

Food:
As usual, I'll do some grilling, ONCE. The grill will be available for others to use as well, but I only cook once.

There are delivery places, close chinese food and two supermarkets nearby.
There are also beer stores close.
Here is the reminder that kegs are NOT allowed.

Infrastructure:
The windows networking server snvpa set up worked out pretty well last time and is expected again, improved even.
My weak cat5 cable that screwed us up a while WILL be repaired by then.....

I am planning to do some more electrical work in the next month or so, which should finally alleviate ALL the power problems of the past.

Seating:
Went pretty well last time but we DID get a record crowd.....17 people.
If you want to assure yourself a good seat, ARRIVE EARLY.

Seating is on a first come, first served basis.

Details will follow as things firm up and games are chosen.

awesome, I'm in. I'm really hoping for the June release of UT 2007. I'll take my usual space in the smoking dungeon.
I'll try to have the DHCP scope pre configured so we have little if any downtime, don't want to upset those of you that can't live without inet for 1 hour.

I'm likely NOT to be able to attend, this was the one weekend I had a prior commitment in August. Sadly, I have a laptop now as my primary and packing/unpacking is easier than ever.

Maybe we could have a small, private party between now and then Doug... since Dino missed the last one and I'm going to miss the next one.

Feel free to request anything you want.
Doesn't mean we'll DO it, of course, but go ahead and ask.

Quote:

Yup. Procedure. I gotta ask and you gotta respond.

NOTICE:

A new suggestion was made to me today that I think is a good one:

Beginning at the August LAN I will be accepting OPTIONAL donations towards the purchase of gigabit LAN switches to improve the performance of the network infrastructure. Suggested donation amount is $5.

While I have 10/100 switches which are sufficient, 10/100/1000 switches would add a lot of bandwidth and with the ever greater number of systems that include gigabit ethernet, should greatly improve the infrastructure.
Again, this is a DONATION and NOT an entrance fee.
