ok guys/gals i am lookin to upgrade my system again i have right around 200 bux to spend on a NEW mobo and NEW PCIE vid card ( i just got a amd64 3000+ and a agp mobo ) right now i still have my 6600gt i am lookin for more so i have been lookin at the 7600gs with thier 12 pipes and all
1. should i be worried if i cant hit the same speeds as my 6600gt
2. IF i cant hit the same speeds will the 7600gs be a better/faster card
3. is thier really any diffrence in the GS over the GT's other then faster clocks and Gddr3? anyone please get back to me asap as i will be placeing my order on newegg asap! thanks in advance

well given the slightly lower clocks i think the gs will provide on par with 6600gt while the 7600gt is on par with a 6800gt. link for compare gs is not there but the slower clock/mem speeds is the only difference.

well other wise with am2 coming out soon. prices will drop some on current 939/754 boards. i would wait imo right now.

7600GS > 6600GT, especially the xfx extreme edition clocked at 500/900 (up from 400/800), it gets 4500 in 3dmark05 on a sempron 3100+ budget system with ide hard drives and non-dualchannel budget memory. Also, just for another compare (didnt read your link), my buddies 6600GT (non-oc) gets 3500 in 3dmark 05 on an athlon 3000+ @ 2.3ghz/1gb DC DDR computer.

7600GT > 6800GT, the 7600GT from evga @ 580/1500 (up from 560/1400) gets 6300 in 3dmark 05 on my system in sig, nothing is overclocked either.

1) No? the 7600 core is different and runs more efficient, core speed isnt everything, however it is the exact same core as the 7600GT's so if you strap a case fan on it, or get a new hsf for it you can probably hit 560 (7600GT core speeds) or higher on the core, and the memory might be able to hit 1ghz, but thats probably tops for the memory on it, 900 is probably easily atainable.

2) 7600GS > 6600GT, especially with an overclock, get the xfx xtreme edition and it will spank the 6600GT.

3) No difference, just cheaper memory and they use lower clocks to make it a budget card, rather good card if you ask me! Just setup a budget sempron system with one and it flies at 500/900 (havent overclocked yet cause it has a passive heatsink, will strap an 80mm fan to it and try an oc).

get the 7600GS, i highly reccomend it! 7600GT is also great, but it costs a good chunk more, either way you should be happy with the purchase.

ok thanks i got the XfX 7600GS woot woot i am all kinda excited now lol
