Again, Thanks for taking the time to allow me to interview you.

When did you join the Team? Approximate date is ok if you don't know the specific date.
I joined the team somewhere around August 2005.

If there was something recent that you did that you wanted your fellow teammembers to know about, what would it be?
I made it to page 2 with less than 500 work units. Almost everyone else had turned in thousands of work units in order to get there; I was a little embarrassed at getting there so quickly; a real testament to their dedication to FOLDING. It's really nothing that I did, just the power of QMD''s and 4 Intel machines.

What is your EOC (extremeoverclockers) stats link?
Link

You do not have to give specifics (address), but what State do you live in, and if you don't mind telling, what town? (town is not required, but if not a town, a general direction and distance from the nearest 'big town/city' would suffice)
I'm currently living in Stafford, VA. Stafford is a county not a town and I live about 45 miles south of Washington DC just east of I-95 (for those of you who might know the area). There is a good chance that I will be moving soon maybe to the Denver area of Colorado.

How did you initially hear about F@H?
I learned of FAH from the forums of Overclockers.com when I was trying to learn about building a computer. It seemed like something worthwhile and I needed to justify the computer that I was going to build (sig rig) to good use; after all I could surf the net with my old 450 mhz PIII, you don't need an overclocked Intel 550 for surfing.

After starting, why do you continue to Fold?
I would have to say that originally I contunued to fold because it was addictive. I REALLY LIKED GETTING POINTS! It wasn't long before I installed FAH on my wifes computer and got my PIII out of storage. Then there was AlabamaCajun who looked like he needed to be challanged so I borged my son's computer and the chase was on. But, AC pulled out a can of "woop@ss" and left me in his dust...twice, even after borging my neighbor's computer. When I challanged AC a 3rd time I was turning in 4 QMD's a day (1800 pts) and managed to pass AC when fate dealt me a reality check and Stanford took away the QMD's. My production dropped from bright red to green and sometimes blue. It made me think about why I was really folding and about the dedication of all of those folders that I had passed so quickly, yet they still folded on. It's not really about the points IT'S FOR THE SCIENCE; although the points is what can make it fun especially with the great people on Team 32.

What do you do for a living?
I am a retired High School science/math teacher. You know, Chemistry, Physics, and Math; the kind of course that someone always asks the question "Why do I need to learn this stuff?"

What do you do for fun?
I like to go rock crawling in my 1966 CJ-5 Jeep with my son, play with my grandchildren, do genealogy research and generally build and fix things.

Is there anything special you do in your spare time that you really enjoy?
I'm learning a new hobby, computers. I'm not sure where it's going to lead but it's fun learning about new things, at least new to me.

Time to spill your guts. What are the stats of your main folding rig? Why is it your fave? What all do you use the rig for?
My favorite rig is my main rig or my signiture rig. It's a little out of date now as it's not dual core but it's my first build and so it's special to me. I mostly use the computer for folding. I hate wasting cpu cycles doing other things when it could be folding.

Do you have a Borg-Farm? If so, how many computers, and what are they? (CPU, RAM)
I don't have a farm per say. I have my main rig (overclocked Intel 550 @ 3.75 ghz, 1 gb ram, water cooled), my Gateway 450 mhz PIII on Timless Tinkers, my wife's 3.2 ghz Gateway with 2 gb ram, my son's 940 dual core Dell with 2 gb ram, and my neighbors 3.0 ghz Hewlett Packard with 1 gb ram. Only the PIII is a dedicated folder...well not really as sometimes I use it for a radio. Altogether, I have about 13 ghz of Intel folding power.

What are your future goals? What do you most want to accomplish with your life?
You might think, since I'm retired, that my goal is to take it easy. But let me tell you "RETIREMENT SUCKS". I'm thinking of starting a new career in computers. It needs to be something that doesn't require me to go to school for another four years before starting work. At age 58 I would like to have time to actually get to work some before having to retire again. If anyone has any ideas pm me.

If there is something you want to tell the team, then spill your guts! What have I missed in my questions that could help the team learn more about you and who you are?
Well lets see, you learned that I live in Stafford, VA and that I am a bored retired school teacher that might want to start a new career at age 58. I think that about covers it. And, oh yeah, FOLD ON!

Hello CJ-5, do you happen to frequent 4x4wire, or the pirate boards? I do a bit of fun off-roading (local, little stuff, mostly trails) in my 1989 Isuzu Trooper LS. A little 2.6L inline 4 cylinder (the gutless wonder), but with the transfer case it does quite well. Open front and rear, but haven't gotten stuck yet (mostly because I don't push it because I have to wheel alone at the moment). I run stock sized BFG AT KOs. I love em. Well nice to meet you, and take care .

- Jim

Nice story about the Cajun man there... I've been trying to catch him (and you) for quite some time now. Since I think he's participating in all the monkey business going on I'm trying to put the push on him while I've got the chance.

Landshark... as long as you wish to keep doing this, then do so. Or... whenever you decide to hand the reigns on over to someone else. I'm right now in a bit of a crux myself.... i'm hoping to get some MEANINGFUL work soon (where they'll actually pay me, instead of working me for 2 weeks, then disappearing and not paying me.... *grrrr* stupid construction jobs)......... or i'm gonna be disappearing from the forums till i get some income..... (no income... no internet.... )

I may not be in the top 10 "total points" or "ppd" but I seem to be in the top 10 of at least one catagory; maybe even #1.

No, I don't. What name do you post under?

Going out alone is not a great idea, although I've done it too. When my son was in HS he decided to take his truck wheeling with a friend in the Rocky Mtns and managed to get hung up. It was below freezing, night time, they did not have coats and they tried to walk out in the dark. Needless to say they got lost. When daylight came they did walk out (12 miles mostly up hill). It was about 3 in the afternoon when they manage to get to a phone.

Oric is another 4wd enthusiast. As you can see from his avatar, the terain is a little different than Illinois. I'm not knocking IL 4wd trails, they are just an entirely different type of 4 wheeling than out west.

Mud is good! Muddy trails are about all there is around the DC area that I know of, but they can be a lot of fun. You're less likely to damage your nice looking vehicle as well.

The harsh reality of page 2 my friend... I'm only 5 spots back from you now, but those 5 account for ~20k point gap. So rest easy for now and I'll see you in a few months.
