Thought I would report some good news (since this is an official "good week"). I was having trouble with one of my dual xeons only booting with one cpu detected. I fiddled around with it sunday and figured out that the vrm had gone bad (really, I have no idea how this could have happed...really). Well, I took it to work and we found a bad polly fuse, soldered on a new one and abracadabraprestochangeo its now booting with both cpus again. Not the fastest performer at 400mhz but I'm clad to have it back in the mix.

I think those 512kb L2's are slowing you down. You should really put those under my name. HEHEHEHE. How do they crunch?

No outside help in the fight.

I had a quad xeon netfinity server a while back. 4 700's with 1meg cache. They crunched faster than a 1GHz P3.

These PII400's are taking about 13-14 hours each under linux.
