Home Theater sub wire

ok so i plan on getting this sub ordered by the end of next week. From what my uncle tells me, it is literally "the ****". He has a few friends with them, and said they are badass. My sub i got now is a PoS, and the wire is built into it and i need some good wire to go from my sub to my receiver. So what wire (prefer to buy locally, like at bestbuy, or circuit city, then online, just so i won't have to wait). It only needs to be like 5-10ft. But i want it to be GOOD STUFF.

Sub - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...Fencoding=UTF8

if anyone knows of a better home theather sub for around $200-$250 then let me know and i will look into it.

edit: Actually it doesn't matter if the wire is ordered online or not, whichever will give me the best price to performance ratio. I got some wire that i could use, if i do have to order it online, to hold me over.

i don't know a whole lot about home theater stuff, i just know that my receiver has 2 wholes in the back for 2 wires, and the sub i got now has the wire built in.

but my speakers u hook the wire in red and black holes on the back, and then on the reciver the wire gets hooked into red and black holes.

This is what it said on amazon. Speaker wire connect type : Push Connectors

edit: fixed my horrible spelling

That is an Active Sub, so it should have Low Level RCA Connections. It may also have High Level inputs for speaker level inputs. If at all possible, use an RCA connection for the Low Level input, it will be better. What do you have for a receiver/amp?

I just bought the sub below. Holy Crap! It pounds! I can't say I have heard that Sony Sub, so I can't comment about it.

my receiver is a piece of ass. The receiver and speakers that came with the receiver and the sub totalled like $50 at wal mart. lol. I got some nice bose speakers hooked up to it right now, and my crappy sub.

I plan on getting the sub, then a decent receiver.

How much does a decent one cost? i was thinking like $150-$210 or so.

Edit: could you post a link, to some of that RCA connection wire?

My best advice would to not get the sub right now, and buy a new reciever.

This receiver, the Yamaha HTR-5830 kicks a ton of ass for the price.

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation

and since you have some Bose speakers, wich should be suffice for now. I would worry about new speakers right now.

And then get a new sub. If you dont, you will not get the most out of your sub, and even your HT. That amp will do great.

Oh and the RCA patch cables. Or in the case of the subwoofer cable, it will just be a single cable.

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=181-642

That cable is all you need. And dont EVER let anybody convince you to buy into the Monster cable marketing crap, all they do is severly overprice their stuff, and strap on tons of fancy words to dazzle customers, when in fact, their build quality is just as good as other cable makers. I personaly have that same cable (the 25ft one actualy) and it works terrific for what I paid.

Also, I have heard that sony sub, it is NOT the best by anymeans. Sorry to tell you that, but it aint. But I would reccomend that same JBL sub. JBL is the same company as infinity, wich if you ask anybody, makes some of the best entry level HT equipment out there. And you will essentialy be buying an infinity sub for half the price.

And trust me, that sub will toast that sony

Alright guys, thanks for all the help so far. I think i will go with that yamaha receiver, it looks quite nice?

Will it make my current setup sound any better?

Also will i be able to use my current stuff with it?

it shows round plugs rather then wire plugs.

I will buy that sub later when i got the money, cause im selling some stuff right now.

Yes you will be able to use your current stuff. Those round plugs are designed to use the real fancy cable plugs for speaker wire, called banana plugs. You dont have to have them though, becuase the terminal just screws loose, and you can stick the wire through the hole underneath, and just screw it down again, works just fine.

And you can ask alot of people, and they will agree, that amp is very very good for the price.
