The guy is out of focus, the rabbit is not. The bunny is considerably closer to the camera than the man and the apparent size is thus partly a product of forced perspective.

I forgot the exact story but there was this huge rabbit terrorizing some neighborhood and everyone came to the conclusion that it was one of these rabbits in the picture that are genetically manipulated to grow very large at this particular ranch where the guy is holding up that rabbit.
True story.

not necessarily true. We have wild rabbits here than get to nearly 2 feet long and upwards of 35lbs (i think they bred with some domesticated 'giant' rabbits one of our neighbors had years ago). Certain Domesticated rabbits can get absolutely mindblowingly huge.

a Friend of mine had a rabbit that grew to about 2 ft long and about 42lbs.

There was a rabbit that lived near our house that terrorized the local dogs and cats. Not exactly sure how it was, but it sure was.....
