hi i am new to computers i have a problem with my tcp/ip renewing and i am not able to go online will any one help me how to fix that problem:welcome:

Turn your modem off for a few minutes and then back on. Check all your connections. If that doesn't work open a command prompt window.

Start | Run type CMD and hit Enter.

Then in the command window type this:

ipconfig /release

Then type this:

ipconfig /renew

You may need to cycle the power on the modem a couple of times as well as renewing the lease like above manually. It also might pick up the new address on it's own as it should when you cycle the power on the modem. If that doesn't do it you have some other problem most likely. Flushing the cache may work but I'd suggest you contact Tech Support with your ISP.

are you getting an ip address that starts with a 69?

If so, you may need to go to your system manager and delete your NIC, then reboot and reinstall it.

I've seen this problem on more than a handfull of computers.
