It's a small bump in performance, but I'd probably buy the 6600GT. The 6800XT is the lowest in the 6800 series with only 8 pipes. (vs 12 pipes for the 6800/GS and 16 pipes for the GT/Ultra)

Only reason to buy a 6800XT is the chance of unlocking pipes, and that can be hit-or-miss. I haven't seen many threads on it either, so chances are it's not happening too much anymore.

6800XT also has the 256 bit though, I dunno I may go the route of the cheaper ont his one, I saw some posts of the XFX Extreme 6800XT in SLI quite nice, of all choices it is recommened to buy the XFX Xtreme as it has DDR3

get the 6600gt.... they overclock like a bat out of hell.... and with the current oc on my card 626/1282 i am gettting 26% better scores in 3dmark 03 05 and 06 and the card is 20% better in all benchies than my friends 6800nu 256mb 256bit PCIe 16x 3.4ghz P4 cpu with 1gb pc4200ram.... my system is a 3.0ghz P4 1gb pc 3200 6600gt AGP! 128mb 128bit... dont get the 6800xt its not worth it... the 6600gt will blow the doors off of it.

ALSO the 6600gt has more overclocking potential on the ram... the 6800xt has old DDR the 6600gt has ddr3 and the speed difference will make a HUGE difference in performance.

6600gt gets my vote.
